Datacenter Dynamics EMEA Awards
Area Sq and Hewlett Packard were shortlisted for ‘Innovation in the mega-data centre’ at the DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards 2012 – part of the Global Awards Programme which recognises innovation and leadership across the data centre industry.
The Tier III compliant data centre, located in Suttons Business Park, Reading is a data recovery facility which has been transformed by commercial interiors specialist Area Sq from one data hall in to two data halls with the addition of mezzanine office accommodation.
In Data Hall 2, to help maximise use of the server space, HP Facilities and Area Sq replaced the existing multi-column structure with a single column solution which enabled the business to provide clients with 7,800 sq ft of IT Technical space for data racks. Thanks to this, Data Hall 2 now accommodates a further 350 high density racks which draw 2400W per rack.
The inclusion of a mezzanine level has helped future-proof the building and enable further expansion of the business through the additional 7,850 sq ft of office space. Other features include the latest generation Daikin Chillers which provide free cooling capabilities and a full UPS back up system.
